A group of Karnataka BJP MPs, led by Shobha Karandlaje, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday, seeking help to search for VG Siddhartha, the founder of Cafe Coffee Day who went missing in Mangaluru on Monday evening.

Karandlaje told Shah that VG Siddhartha is a resident of her Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency and that he went missing from the Dakhina Kannada district of Karnataka.

The state government has already started search operations in the Netravati bridge area of Mangaluru, where Siddhartha was last seen. Since it is raining in Coastal Karnataka, the water level in the river has gone up to a serious level, Karandlaje said.

"The heavy rains and the current weather conditions in Karnataka is causing problem for the speedy search operation. I request your good self to help Government of Karnataka by sending coastal guard, central forces and helicopters in this search operation...," she said.

Nalin Kumar Kateel, Karadi Sanganna, Bhagwant Khuba, BC Gathi Gowda and Y Devendrappa were other BJP MPs present in the meeting.
