When Jet Airways Ltd. halted its flights, people who had booked tickets with the carrier were left stranded. But those part of the airline’s frequent-flier programme need not worry.

Members of JetPrivilege, a separate entity, can redeem points not just for booking flights on partner airlines on domestic and international routes, but also for hotel bookings, buying fuel and making donations, according to the programme’s statement. Jet Privilege is 51 percent owned by Abu-Dhabi based Etihad Airways and is now part of the Etihad Aviation Group.

JPMiles can also be transferred to family and friends but only if they are also members of the programme.

Here’s how members can redeem their miles:

Airfares

JetPrivilege members earn miles by flying across partner airlines worldwide to any destination or by using the miles to book flights its www.jetprivilege.com.

Members can fly free by booking tickets using the ‘Select Flights’ option on the website, and not the ‘Standard Flights’ link used in the past.

Earlier, a flier could redeem the miles only against the airfare but had to pay taxes and other levies. Now, the miles can be redeemed against the entire fare. But the miles needed may vary depending on the category of seat, sector of travel, and date and time of the flight.

JetPrivilege has retained the requirement to redeem a certain number of miles on certain routes under the new redemption programme. The required miles could increase based on the booking class, sector, and travel date and time.

Hotel Bookings

To book a hotel stay, JetPrivilege members need to visit https://hotels.jetprivilege.com/ and can redeem their miles across more than 4,00,000 properties worldwide. Jet Privilege has also partnered with Agoda.com, booking.com, Expedia, Hotels.com, FabHotels, HRS, Amoma.com and Homestay.com.

Fuel

Members can redeem the miles to buy fuel at more than 500 outlets of the state-run Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad. A member will have to mention the Jet Privilege membership number to the attendant at the fuel station and provide the one-time password received on their registered mobile number. Four JPMiles are equivalent to a rupee at the fueling station. Members can also split the bill between the miles and cash.

Buying Goods

A JetPrivilege member can redeem the miles for goods sold on www.jetprivilege.com.

Donations

The JetPrivilege reward store (rewardstore.jetprivilege.com) gives an option to make a donation through miles to support social causes. Currently, the NGOs associated with Jet Privilege are:

  • Nashi Kali.
  • Oxfam India.
  • Save The Children India.
  • The Corbett Foundation.
