Government Invites Applications For The Post Of SEBI Chairman

The government has invited applications from aspirants for the post of SEBI chairman.

The Ministry of Finance has invited applications from aspirants for the post of chairman, Securities and Exchange Board of India.

The term of incumbent, Ajay Tyagi, ends in March by when he would be completing five years. He was appointed SEBI chief on March 1, 2017 for three years. His term was first extended by six months and then again by 18 months in August 2020.

According to the Finance Ministry's Oct. 28 notice seeking applications, the person appointed chairman from among eligible candidates shall not hold office for more than five years or beyond 65 years of age, whichever takes place earlier

Eligible candidates are required to send their applications by Dec. 6.
