Government Fixes Subsidy For Nutrient-Based Fertilisers For Rabi Crop
The government has fixed subsidy rates for nutrient-based fertilisers for the second half of the ongoing financial year ahead of the kharif sowing season.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has fixed the subsidy rates for fertilisers, including nitrogen, phosphorus, potash and sulphur-based fertilisers, according to a government statement.
Accordingly, the government will provide a subsidy of:
Rs 18.789 a kg for nitrogen fertilisers.
Rs 45.323 per kg for potassium fertilisers.
Rs 10.116 a kg for potash fertilisers.
Rs 2.374 per kg for sulphur fertilisers.
The rollover expected will be Rs 28,602 crore, according to a Press Information Bureau statement.
There will be a special one-time package for additional subsidy on DAP (di-ammonium phosphate) at the tentative additional cost of Rs. 5,716 crore and additional subsidy on three most consumed NPK fertilisers based on grade of Rs 35,115 crore. The total fertiliser subsidy is expected at Rs 35,115 crore.
According to the statement, the net subsidy required for Rabi crop of 2021-22 after deducting savings will be Rs 28,655 crore.
The government will also give a benefit of Rs 438 a bag on DAP and Rs 100 per bag each on NPK fertilisers to maintain prices of these fertilisers to the farmers.
