(Bloomberg) -- Global Infrastructure Partners hired Jin-Yong Cai as a partner focusing on emerging markets, according to people familiar with the matter.

Cai will work with another of the infrastructure-focused investment firm’s recent hires, Jim Yong Kim, the former president of the World Bank, said one of the people, who requested anonymity because the hire isn’t yet public.

Cai was most recently a partner at TPG Capital overseeing infrastructure opportunities in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Before that, he was chief executive officer of International Finance Corp., the wing of the World Bank Group that invests in private-sector development projects.

Mark Levitt, a representative for GIP, declined to comment and Cai didn’t respond to a request for comment on LinkedIn.

GIP, which is led by Adebayo Ogunlesi, focuses on projects in the energy, transport, water and waste industries and invests in developed and select emerging countries. Last month, it added Tom Horton, the former chairman and CEO of American Airlines Group Inc., as a partner.
