Makers of fast-moving consumer goods will be the first to recover within India’s consumption space as a good monsoon and higher disposal income translate into more purchases, according to Technopak Advisors Pvt. Ltd.’s Ankur Bisen.

The ongoing consumption slowdown in India is because of a supply shortage emanating from the credit crunch, the senior vice president (retail and consumer products division) at the consultancy firm, told BloombergQuint in an interview.

“Because of a credit crunch in this cycle the wholesalers do not have the money to finance larger inventory. So, they have started to look at smaller inventories,” said Bisen.
