Facebook, Amazon Must Take Responsibility For Content, Says Martin Sorrell 

Facebook, Amazon must accept they are media companies, and not only technology providers, Sorrell says.

Martin Sorrell, head of advertising firm WPP Plc, said technology companies such as Facebook and Amazon need to start taking responsibility for the content on their platforms.

It’s time that such organisations started accepting that they were media companies, and not only technology providers, Sorrell said in at a WPP event in New Delhi today.

On India, Sorrell said the country was poised for better growth than China in the longer run, owing to the talent in its workforce, and because the country was set to become the most populated nation soon, giving it a demographic advantage.

Without giving details, he said WPP and its subsidiaries would look at expansion options.
