Agricultural machinery maker Escorts Ltd. expects its construction equipment segment to grow in the coming year, pushed by the government spending on infrastructure projects.

“The money that the government is spending is propelling growth,” said Ajay Mandahr, chief executive officer of the segment at Escorts. The demand for construction equipment is very strong from the infrastructure side, especially road construction, he told BloombergQuint in an interview.

The government is talking about constructing 30 kilometers of roads everyday, he said.
