Dentsu Aegis Network Ltd. has acquired a majority stake in India-based data analytics firm Ugam for an undisclosed amount.

Ugam, which offers services to both business and consumer-focused companies, will now be part of Merkle, the London-based marketing company’s data-driven subsidiary.

Both companies did not disclose any details on the transaction.

Ugam started its operations 19 years ago and employs 1,800 people in India, the U.S. and Australia. The company counts more than 75 Fortune 500 companies as its clients.

Ugam’s capabilites align with the current capabilities of Merkle, Merkle’s Global Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David Williams told BloombergQuint. “We are very attracted to the Indian market, particularly in the quality of the people and the staff and the capabilities.”

Sunil Mirani, co-founder and chief executive officer at Ugam, said that the company has found the perfect partner in Merkle. “Ugam bringing advanced analytics capabilities at scale, and Merkle bringing a diverse client base with a largely in-country presence,” he said in a statement.
