Citi Names Chirico, Cox to Run Investment Bank in North America
(Bloomberg) -- The structure of Citigroup Inc.’s newly combined investment banking and capital markets division is becoming clearer, with the appointment John Chirico and Kevin Cox as co-heads of the business for North America, and new managers being named for the Asia-Pacific and Latin America regions.
Chirico and Cox will work with global and regional managers at Citigroup’s banking, capital markets and advisory division to “help drive BCMA results in our largest geography,” the investment bank’s co-heads, Tyler Dickson and Manuel Falco, wrote in a memo Wednesday. Chirico and Cox also will become members of the global BCMA operating committee. The appointments are effective Jan. 1.
Citigroup has been shuffling top leaders in its investment bank after earlier combining its capital markets and advisory capabilities, mimicking the offerings of its competitors across Wall Street. Dickson and Falco took the reins of the newly formed division as the investment bank’s longtime head, Raymond McGuire, was promoted to vice chairman of Citigroup.
Chirico joined Citigroup in 1997, and has advised clients on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. In 2008, he became co-head of capital markets origination for the Americas. Cox became co-chairman of the company’s global industrials group in 2011, and previously was head of both global industrials and Americas investment banking at UBS Group AG.
In separate memos, Citigroup announced the appointment of Jan Metzger as head of BCMA for the Asia-Pacific region, and Eduardo Cruz in the same role for Latin America. Metzger is currently head of corporate and investment banking for the Asia-Pacific area, and Cruz has the same position for Latin America. Both appointments are effective Jan. 1.
