Chinese Diaper Maker Coco Healthcare Considers Sale

(Bloomberg) -- Coco Healthcare Products Co., a Chinese diaper manufacturer, is exploring a sale that could fetch about $200 million, people with knowledge of the matter said.

The Hangzhou-based company, which counts CLSA Capital Partners among its shareholders, is working with an adviser on the potential sale, said the people, who asked not to be identified as the information is private. The adviser has reached out to several prospective suitors, the people said.

Founded in 2001, Coco Healthcare manufactures adult diapers under the brand name “Ke Kao,“ which means “trustworthy,” according to its website. It also sells diapers for babies and pets. The Chinese firm exports products to countries including Australia and Japan.

CLSA Capital Partners invested 150 million yuan ($21.4 million) in Coco Healthcare in 2015, according to a press release at the time.

Deliberations are at an early stage and they may not lead to a transaction, the people said. A representative for CLSA Capital Partners declined to comment, while a representative for Coco Healthcare didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
