Cable and direct-to-home television service providers ceded ground to streaming services during the pandemic as Netflix and Amazon Prime to AltBalaji increased reach when hundreds of millions of Indians stayed at home.Combined user base of large cable TV operators and DTH companies fell by 41 lakh in the year through March 2021, according to data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. That’s a drop of 3.4%.
