Budget 2020: Ministries With The Highest Fund Allocation

The Amit Shah-led home ministry saw the steepest rise in fund allocation in Union Budget 2020-21.

India’s Ministry of Home Affairs saw the steepest rise in fund allocation in the Union Budget for the financial year 2020-21.

The Amit Shah-led ministry, which received the second-highest allocation among all major ministries, saw its share in the budget rise 40 percent over last year to Rs 1.67 lakh crore. The Ministry of Defence remained the most well-funded with an allocation of Rs 4.7 lakh crore—a 9 percent increase over last year.

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution was the biggest loser. It saw its allocation decline 36 percent from the previous budget to Rs 1.24 lakh crore.
