Boeing Seeks More Than $20 Billion in Aid for Itself, Suppliers

(Bloomberg) -- Boeing Co. is seeking tens of billions of dollars in U.S. government aid for itself and its suppliers in an effort to weather the coronavirus crisis, people familiar with the matter said.

The discussions encompass a mix of financial help such as direct assistance and loan guarantees, the people said, while declining to provide details. The company is pushing for more than $20 billion, said one of the people, who asked not to be named because the talks are private.

Boeing’s efforts to win government aid won rhetorical support from President Donald Trump earlier Tuesday but stoked concerns that the planemaker’s cash is eroding faster than anticipated.
