Auto Sales Fell 6% In FY22 On Supply-Side Disruptions: SIAM
Passenger vehicle sales fell 3.93% year-on-year to 2.79 lakh units in March.
India's automakers shipped fewer passenger vehicles in March than a year earlier as supply-side disruptions persisted.
The segment comprising passenger cars, utility vehicles and vans, sold 2.79 lakh units in March, a 3.93% fall year-on-year, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers on Wednesday.
Sales, however, rose 6.28% over the previous month.
For FY22, SIAM said the auto industry saw 6% decline in sales.
Total two-wheeler sales fell 13.31% over the previous month, and over 20.88% year-on-year to 11.84 lakh units in March
"All segments are facing supply-side challenges and the industry is yet to see a complete recovery, following the disruptions it has been since early 2020," Rajesh Menon, director general at SIAM, said.

Car sales fell 12.07% to 1,38,031 units.
Wholesales of utility vehicles rose 7.33% to 1,32,032 units.
Scooter sales fell 21.4% to 3,60,082 units.
Motorcycle sales fell 20.87% to 7,86,479 units.
Three-wheeler sales fell 0.68% to 32,088 units.
