Assets In NSDL Demat Accounts Now Worth $4 Trillion

NSDL's market share in value of demat assets is more than 89%, the company said.

National Securities Depository Ltd.'s demat accounts now hold assets worth $4 trillion, it said in a media statement.

NSDL is India's oldest but second-largest securities depository by number of accounts—with 2.37 crore active client accounts versus CDSL's 4.64 crore accounts.

But NSDL's market share in value of demat assets is more than 89%, the statement said.

Securities held in accounts at NSDL are worth Rs 300 lakh crore versus Rs 35.20 lakh crore in assets at the Central Depository Services (India) Ltd., based on data on depository's website.

In last 11 months, value of assets held in demat accounts in NSDL has increased by over 50% or Rs 100 lakh crore, the statement said.
