Assam Government Invokes ESMA, Bans Strikes At NTPC For Six Months

The Assam government has prohibited strikes at NTPC for a period of six months.

The Assam government has prohibited strikes at National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd., under Essential Services Maintenance (Assam) Act, for a period of six months, with immediate effect.

The state government in exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 of the ESMA, 1980 has prohibited strikes in the state for a period of six months from the date of issue of the notification until further orders, said a government release here on Wednesday.

The notification prohibits strikes by officers, workmen, contract labours, tanker drivers and also khalasis associated with NTPC, the release said.
