Car, Passenger Vehicles Sales Decline In August, SIAM Says

Sales of domestic passenger vehicle dropped 2.42 percent year-on-year to 2.87 lakh units in August, according to Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.

Car sales declined by a percent to 1.97 lakh units last month, the automobile industry body said today. Motorcycle sales grew 6.18 percent to 12.1 lakh units in August.

Total two-wheeler sales rose 2.91 percent year-on-year to 19.5 lakh units during the month.

Sales of commercial vehicles jumped by 29.6 percent to 84,668 units, SIAM said. Vehicle sales across categories registered a growth of 3.43 percent 23.8 lakh units.
