Tesla's Enterprise Value Per Car Sold Smashes Its Peers

(Bloomberg) -- With Tesla Inc. mulling going private, here’s a sobering statistic. Its $61 billion enterprise value -- a proxy for the takeover value of a company -- makes it the seventh largest automaker in the world, but its value per vehicle sold last year came in at a whopping $591,336. That’s almost 13 times more than BMW AG. Tesla would need to sell 2.3 million cars per year (it has sold over 70,000 cars through the first two quarters of 2018) to drive its vehicles sold metric down to the median value of $27,267. Now you decide if that’s fair value.
