Indraprastha Gas Hikes CNG Price By Rs 1.36 Per Kilogram In Delhi
IGL hikes prices of compressed natural gas citing appreciation in the rupee and increase in input prices.
Compressed natural gas is now costlier in Delhi and surrounding region as Indraprastha Gas Ltd. increased prices to offset a weaker rupee and a rise in the proportion of the higher-priced fuel.
CNG will cost 3.3 percent more in Delhi and 3.2 percent higher in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad from midnight. A consumer will pay Rs 1.36 more in Delhi at 41.97 per kilogram, and Rs 1.55 more at Rs 48.60 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida & Ghaziabad, according to a statement by IGL. The price revision will be effective from midnight tonight.
IGL said the company will continue to offer a discount of Rs 1.50 per kg between 12.30 am to 5.30 am at select outlets.
There has been a steep appreciation in the dollar against the rupee since the last CNG price revision, the company said. As per the revised domestic gas allocation for supply as CNG, the proportion of costlier Panna Mukta Tapti gas has been increased, which has added to the input costs, it said.
IGL is a joint venture of gas utility GAIL (India) Ltd, fuel retailer Bharat Petroleum Corp (BPCL) and the Delhi government. Its city gas distribution infrastructure is spread over Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Rewari and consists of over 11,000 km of pipeline network. The company alone meets fuel requirements of over 1.05 million vehicles running on CNG in NCR through a network of 446 CNG stations. IGL also supplies PNG to nearly 900,000 households in Delhi and NCR towns.
