Delhi Slashes Power Tariff Ahead Of Summer

Power tariffs for domestic consumers in Delhi have been slashed across slabs.

Delhi reduced power tariffs for consumers with the onset of summer when consumption spikes on increased use of air conditioners and water coolers.

Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission reduced tariffs across all categories, it said in a press statement. The new tariffs for 2018-19 will be applicable for Indraprastha Power Generation Company Ltd. Delhi Transco. Ltd. Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd., BSES Yamuna Power Ltd. and New Delhi Municipal Council.

Tariffs for domestic consumers have been slashed across slabs:

  • 0-200 units: Down from Rs 4 a unit to Rs 3
  • 201-400 units: Reduced from 5.95 to 4.50 a unit.
  • 401-800 units: Down from Rs 7.30 to Rs 6.5 a unit
  • 801-1,200 units: Cut from Rs 8.75 to Rs 7.75 a unit.

For industrial users, tariff for consumption of up to 10 kW has been reduced from Rs 8.45 a unit to 7.25.

Under non-domestic category, price for consumption up to 10 kW has been reduced from Rs 8.80 to Rs 8 unit.

The revised tariffs will be effective from April 1.
