H&M India Launches Online Store

H&M India launched its online store as it aims to reach newer cities in Asia’s third-largest economy.

The fashion retailer expects its products to reach any part of India within eight days of the order being placed, Janne Einola, country manager at H&M India, told BloombergQuint. Customers in metros will get the merchandise delivered within three days of placing an order from the distribution centre based out of Mumbai.

Online will not only give us the opportunity to strengthen our position in tier 1 cities, but also offer our products to customers in places where we don’t have physical stores. Especially in tier 2 cities.

The fast-fashion retailer joins Zara, the flagship of billionaire Amancio Ortega’s Inditex group, to sell online. Aditya Birla Group shut its online retail platform abof.com last year.

H&M also plans to add 17 stores in India this year, maintaining its growth. The retailer has 29 outlets so far. In the year ended November 2017, H&M India sales nearly doubled to Rs 954 crore.
