More Snow on the Way in Time for Wednesday's New York Commute

(Bloomberg) -- A weak winter storm is moving across the entire eastern U.S., sparking advisories and warnings from Texas to Maine. 

New York could get 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 centimeters) of snow early Wednesday morning, enough to disrupt the morning commute, said Marc Chenard, a senior branch forecaster at the U.S. Weather Prediction Center in College Park, Maryland.

New York City is “on a gradient” between rain and snow, Chenard said. The system won’t develop into a powerful storm, but will be strong enough to “probably cause some issues” for Manhattan commuters, he said.

Further west and north, as much as 5 to 8 inches of snow could fall from Pennsylvania into New England. The National Weather Service predicts as much as 6 inches could fall in Boston. Washington will get less than an inch late Tuesday. 

In addition to the Northeast, parts of Houston could get an inch or two of snow on top of freezing rain through Tuesday, with temperatures fluctuating in the 20s and 30s through Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
