Apple Picks Michel Coulomb To Head India Operations

Apple gets a new head of sales for its Indian operations.

Technology giant Apple Inc. has named Michel Coulomb as the head of sales for its operations in India, a key market for the iPhone maker. Coulomb will succeed Sanjay Kaul, who has stepped down from the post.

Coulomb is a veteran at Apple and has held various roles since 2003. Most recently, he was the managing director of the company’s South Asian operations. He also has the experience of handling the Middle East, Turkey and Africa sales team, according to his LinkedIn profile.

India, which is among the fastest growing smartphone markets globally, is one of the key bets for the Cupertino, California company. Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook has, on multiple occasions, highlighted that the company is very "bullish" and "optimistic" about the India market. He said that the company is bringing all of its "energies" to expand footprint in the country.

Apple India had reported a 17 percent growth in sales to Rs 11,619 crore for the year ended March, according to reports citing regulatory documents. This is against an annual growth of 53 percent in the previous year.
