India’s largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp Ltd. clocked its highest-ever monthly sales in August, driven by a strong pick-up in demand ahead of the festive season.

Two-wheeler sales rose 10 percent to 6.78 lakh units last month compared to August last year. The sales grew on account of “early arrival of the festival season this year”, the company said in a media statement. Hero MotoCorp sold 661,490 units in the domestic market while exports rose to 17,307 units in August.

Hero MotoCorp’s monthly sales have been rising since March, after four straight months of decline since demonetisation in November.

The company expects its sales and market share to improve “with adequate inventory of its range of popular motorcycles and scooters at dealerships across the country”, its statement said.
