Tata Sons Appoints Shuva Mandal As Group Counsel, Elevates Bharat Vasani To Advisory Role

Shuva Mandal will replace Bharat Vasani as Tata Group’s general counsel.

Tata Sons Ltd. chairman N. Chandrasekaran has made his second key hiring in two days as the salt-to-software conglomerate roped in one of India's most successful corporate lawyers, Shuva Mandal, as the Group General Counsel.

Mandal will replace Bharat Vasani, who was Tata Group’s general counsel for 17 years. according to a media statement. Vasani will now move to the position of a Legal Adviser to the chairman's office.

Mandal is currently a partner and leads the national practice of corporate for mergers and acquisition and private equity cases at law firm Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. He was earlier associated with AZB & Partners.

He is said to have provided external legal advise to Tata Sons on several cases, including the DoCoMo case and the legal battle with former chairman Cyrus Mistry.

It has always been an enriching and learning experience working with the Tata group as an advisor, and now I look forward to playing a bigger role under the guidance of Mr. Chandrasekaran and his new team.
