Jaguar Land Rover’s October Retail Sales Jump 11%

JLR sees robust sales growth in China, Europe.

Strong sales growth in China and Europe helped Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover record its best ever retail sales for the month of October.

The premium luxury vehicle manufacturer sold 46,325 vehicles in October, 11 percent higher than the corresponding month last year, Tata Motors said in a stock exchange filing on Monday.

The robust sales performance was led by models like Land Rover Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Jaguar XF as well as the introduction of the Jaguar F-PACE.

Sales of JLR grew 39 percent in China, 25 percent in Europe and eight percent each in the United Kingdom and North America. However, sales in other overseas market fell 22 percent.

In the first ten months of the year, JLR sold 4,80,439 vehicles, 23 percent higher than the same period last year.

The company continues to see positive sales momentum going ahead, Andy Goss, director of sales operations at the Jaguar Land Rover Group said in the stock exchange filing.

Other Key Highlights

  • Discovery Sport was the best-seller in October, selling 9,605 vehicles, up 34 percent compared to last year.
  • Range Rover Evoque sold 9,012 vehicles, 17 percent higher than the previous year.

Shares of Tata Motors Ltd. surged as much as 1.76 percent to Rs 521.30, after the announcement.
