Ashok Leyland’s October Sales Jump 28% Powered By Medium And Heavy Vehicles

Light commercial vehicle sales of Ashok Leyland rose 13% in October.

Ashok Leyland Ltd. gained after reporting a 28 percent rise in sales in the month of October.

India’s second largest commercial vehicle maker sold 12,533 units compared to 9,803 units in October 2015, the company said in its filing to the exchanges.

The sale of medium and heavy commercial vehicles segment grew 33 percent to 9,574 units compared to 7,176 units in October last year.

Sale of light commercial vehicles, such as pick-up trucks, vans, and three-wheelers, grew 13 percent to 2,959 units as against 2,627 units in the same month last year.

Shares of Ashok Leyland, which were trading 1.4 percent lower at Rs 90.05, rebounded to trade as much as 1.3 percent higher post the announcement.
