L&T Constructions Wins Rs 3,799 Crore Order For Dedicated Freight Corridor

Under the project, L&T will construct 1,042 kilometres of track in the western corridor.

A consortium of Larsen and Toubro Ltd. and Japan’s Sojitz Corp has won an order worth Rs 3,799 crore from the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd.

“The order involves construction of civil, track works, overhead electrification, traction substations, signalling and telecommunication line on the 128-kilometre stretch between Rewari and Dadri in Uttar Pradesh,” L&T said in a stock exchange filing.

The project is located at the northern end of the western corridor and forms a link between the eastern and western corridors. The whole section of 128 km is a detour and a greenfield project.

Under the project, L&T will construct 1,042 kilometres of track in the 1,464-kilometre long western corridor. The company will also be involved in electrifying the entire western corridor between Dadri and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT).

Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India is a special purpose vehicle of Indian Railways, mandated to build dedicated freight corridors.

Shares of Larsen and Toubro were trading higher by 2.2 percent at Rs 1,470.45 per share as of 2:30 p.m.
