India’s largest passenger vehicles maker Maruti Suzuki will foray into the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment with the Super Carry.

The vehicle will be initially rolled out towards the end of August only in three cities and will be sold through an exclusive sales channel set up specifically for target customers of Super Carry. Commercial sales channel outlets have been established in Ahmedabad, Kolkata and Ludhiana where the vehicle will be first seen on roads.

The ex-showroom price of the product ranges between Rs 4,01,000-4,11,000, depending on the city.

Super Carry will take on the likes of Tata Ace and Piaggio Porter in the LCV segment.

The company has invested Rs 300 crore in the development of Super Carry, Maruti said in its press release.

Super Carry is powered by a 793 cc dual cylinder diesel engine. It has 5-speed manual transmission and offers a payload capacity of 740 kilograms. The company claims that the vehicles delivers a mileage of 22.07 kilometers for every litre of fuel.

Super Carry will be available in the diesel variant in two colours - white and silver.
