Breaking Barriers: The Fierce Female Bouncers Of Pune

Amita Kadam’s brother-in-law was a bouncer. That’s what inspired her to form an all-female bouncers club to protect women in pubs and bars.

Founded in 2016, the Swamini Lady Bouncers Club started with only five recruits but now has 50 women bouncers working in several pubs across Pune. The members are trained in self-defence, frisking female guests and turfing out harassers.

Apart from income, this job has brought the recruits self-confidence, respect and dignity.
