Asia’s higher EdTech major upGrad has unveiled plans to add 30+ international university partnerships in the next 12 months. The brand is at an all-time high and has clinched 14 international university partnerships in the last nine months, which includes elite global players like the University of Arizona, Kennesaw State University, Swiss School of Business Management, University of Fraser Valley, Yorkville University, Deakin University On-Campus, University of Canberra, James Cook University, International University of Applied Science and CBS International Business School.

The University of Arizona, which ranks amongst the top 1% of 20,000 global universities as per the Center for World University Rankings, is considered one of the top 100 universities worldwide, and among the top 40 public universities in the U.S. The Kennesaw State University ranks among an elite group of only 6% of U.S. colleges and universities with an R1 or R2 status.

Commenting on upGrad’s growth plans, co-founder Phalgun Kompalli said, “We are operating in an era dominated by technology, where there is strong demand for quality education in the country. While academic reputation and exposure to global opportunities are gaining importance, the opportunity cost associated with education remains huge. Therefore, aligned with our clarion call of ‘Fast-Forwarding’ one’s career with upGrad, we are determined to usher in some of the top international universities to offer great opportunities for our learners across the world, thus making the concept of online transnational education affordable and mainstream.”

While the first two months of 2021 saw nearly 72,000 Indians go abroad for higher studies as per industry reports, rising spends on education have placed a huge financial burden on many Indian households.

“With the U.S. being the primary focus, we are also looking forward to expanding our network in the U.K. and APAC region as well,” added Phalgun.

upGrad currently enjoys a long-standing relationship with around 20 international universities, for programmes like Data Science, Machine Learning, Global MBA, Management, Law, Business Analytics, Study Abroad, among others.
