Boris Johnson To Deliver Special Address At Carnegie India’s Global Technology Summit

As the world sizes up the challenge faced by the latest Covid-19 variant, it is clear that many aspects of life as-we-knew-it have changed permanently. These changes will impact every country and every person.

The pandemic has further challenged assumptions about the relationship between the global and the local. In the sphere of technology, the relationship between the two is even more intertwined. The increased interdependence on the Internet has increased concerns over it being misused or weaponized. This, along with several other geopolitical developments, has acted as an inflection point for trends that argue for digital sovereignty. Nations have been rethinking their strategy towards globalizing technological systems, in a way that they balance concerns of national sovereignty with those of global efficiency and innovation.

With a focus on the theme ‘Global Meets Local’, and commitment to address some of these issues, India's most respected technology conference, Carnegie India's flagship event is back this month! The 6th edition of the highly influential Global Technology Summit will be held between 14^th and 16^th December. Hosted in partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, the Summit aims to take an in-depth look at the changing nature of technology and geopolitics, assess its global effects and consider the emerging realities. The 2021 Global Technology Summit will convene industry experts, policymakers, scholars, scientists, and other stakeholders from all over the world in a hybrid format. British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will kick-start the Summit.
