Brindisi Picks Up New York House Seat for Democrats

(Bloomberg) -- Democrat Anthony Brindisi ousted Republican Representative Claudia Tenney from her House seat representing New York’s 22nd district, according to ABC and CBS projections.

Tenney tied herself closely to President Donald Trump, who won the district over Hillary Clinton in 2016. State Assembly member Brindisi prevailed in the district, where registered Republicans outnumber Democrats, by focusing on protecting entitlement benefits and Second Amendment rights. The rust-belt Binghamton-area district has struggled to benefit from the economic boom, giving the Democrat an opening.
