The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India released data for January 2021. Here are the key highlights -
Industry gross subscribers increased by 9.6 million month-on-month (lost 1.4 million in December 2020) to 1.16 billion in January, led by subscriber additions by all three major Telcos.
Active subscribers rose by a steady 3.3 million in January to 979 million as Reliance Jio/Vodafone Idea Ltd. saw sharp subscriber losses.
Bharti Airtel Ltd. added 5.9 million/6.9 million gross/active subscribers to 345 million/336 million in January, consistently improving the pace of subscriber additions since the past six months.
With this, the company regained its top spot in terms of active subscriber market share at 34.3%.
