The Indian rupee ended flat against the U.S. dollar on Friday as foreign banks’ greenback sales offset weak risk appetite in the region due to mounting U.S.-China tensions and a recovery in the U.S. dollar.

The rupee was quoted at 74.93 to the dollar unchanged from previous session.

U.S. dollar rebounded supported by safe haven appeal for the greenback amid rising tensions between U.S. and China.

President Donald Trump's decision to ban U.S. transactions with two popular Chinese apps weighed on risk sentiment.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex and the broader Nifty 50 index gave up early losses to end 0.04% and 0.12% higher, respectively.

U.S. Dollar ended higher on Friday after U.S. job growth for July helped ease some investor worries on the U.S. labour market.
