We are set for policy moves in the oil and gas sector that will result in -
application of goods and services tax,
introduction of open access in 54 geographical areas and
the imminent launch of the 11th round of new geographical areas auctions.
These views were shared by Mr. Satpal Garg, Ex-Member of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board in a zoom investor meeting (September 15, 2021) on gas regulations and policy.
He also emphasised the need for gas pricing reforms and does not expect city gas distribution companies to suffer even if gas prices increase, as expected from October 2021 (50-60% increase expected as per industry sources).
