Nirmal Bang: Orient Electric’s Cost Control Leads To Robust Q2 Margin, Profitability

Orient Electric Ltd. posted revenue of Rs 4.3 billion in Q2 FY21, flat YoY, 11%/4% above our/consensus estimates.

B2C sales of fans, consumer luminaires, water heaters and kitchen appliances registered good growth while B2B projects remained muted.

Sales were aided by pent-up demand, rising rural consumption as well as channels such as e-commerce and large format stores.

Electric consumer durables segment’s revenue rose 8% YoY to Rs 3 billion (70% of total sales) while lighting and switchgears segment’s revenue fell 15% YoY to Rs 1.3 billion (30% of total sales).
