Motilal Oswal: Steady Recovery Continues In Telecom Industry Subscribers

While Airtel and Jio added 2.9 million and 1.9 million subscribers in August, Vodafone Idea lost 1.2 million, TRAI data shows.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India released data for August 2020.

Key highlights are as follows:

Gross subscribers increased by 3.7 million month-on-month to 1.15 billion in August 2020.

Healthy adds were reported for the second straight month (versus 3.5 million in July 2020), after a 20 million loss over March-June 2020.

Reliance Jio’s gross adds slowed to just 1.9 million; Bharti Airtel Ltd. added 2.9 million, while Vodafone Idea Ltd. lost 1.2 million.
