BNPL products are growing globally due to:
faster single-factor checkouts versus two-factor verification for other payment options,
lower marketing expense for marquee brands for order uptick and
increased sales being offered to merchants.
BNPL is offered in three formats globally:
30-day BNPL,
pay in three to four installment BNPL and
long tenor BNPL products.
30-day BNPL offers high touch customer engagement but low profitability and low take rates, leading to low volumes of Rs 1 billion per month.
