India Valuations Handbook- Second Covid-19 Wave Caps The Momentum; Mid And Smallcaps Outperform: Motilal Oswal

The Nifty ended its two-month winning streak in April 2021.

The index oscillated approximately 900 points before closing 60 points, or 0.4%, lower month-on-month at 14,631.

The Nifty is up 4.6% in CY21 so far.

Foreign institutional investor outflows of $1.5 billion were seen after six consecutive months of inflows.

Domestic institutional investor saw inflows for the second consecutive month at 1.5 billion.

Midcaps/smallcaps outperformed largecaps by 2.5%/6% in April 2021.

Over the last 12 months, midcaps are up 79% versus a 48% rise for the Nifty.

The Nifty Midcap100 price/earnings ratio now trades at a 10% discount to largecaps at 18.1 times.
