Indian economy is recovering from jolt of second wave of Covid, which led to partial lockdown in several states for nearly a month and half. Although impact of the second wave was limited as factories and supply chain remained operational, the peak case addition of 4.2x daily and spread to small towns and rural India has dampened the sentiment.
June month has seen gradual easing of restrictions and pick-up in demand, however there remains an uncertainty regarding the sustenance of pent up demand in the economy.
Going by Indian Council of Medical Research's forecasts, we don’t rule out a strong third wave in September/October festival season which will have a telling impact on sentiments and can lead to considerable cut in FY22 earnings per share.
