One variable that is very critical for the future of growth in the economy is investment. The pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns have impacted the pace of investment. While some industries have been witnessing increased investment like steel, fast moving consumer goods, pharma, construction, others have lagged due to limited demand.

Overall capacity utilisation rate as per Reserve Bank of India in June was around 60%, well below the target rate of 75-78% before which fresh investment is invoked. Against this background how has investment fared this year?
