Mutual Fund Monthly Commentary -

1. Asset under Management of the mutual fund industry increased by 1.4% month on month (Rs 37,494 crore) to Rs 27.49 Lakh crore in August 2020.

On YoY basis, the total AUM of Mutual Fund increased by 7.9%.

Average AUM of Mutual Fund industry increased by 1.8% MoM and 8.4% YoY.

In August 2020 net outflow from for the industry was at Rs 14,553 crore as against net inflow of Rs 89,813 crore in July 2020.

2. Equity investments by Mutual Funds and foreign institutional investors -

Domestic mutual funds have been sellers in equity for last three months.

Mutual Funds were net equity sellers to an amount of Rs 5,341.3 crore as against net sellers of Rs 9,195 crore in July 2020.

In August 2020, mutual funds were net buyer in equities for four trading sessions and net seller in the remaining 17 sessions.

Highest net buying in equities was recorded at Rs 891.6 crore on August 31, 2020; while highest net selling was recorded at Rs 1,811.8 crore on August 27, 2020.

In August 2020 FIIs were net equity buyer for an amount of Rs 45,637 crore as against net buyers of Rs 8,590.1 crore in July 2020.

In August 2020, FIIs were net equity buyers for 17 trading sessions and net seller in remaining four.

Highest net buying in equities was recorded at Rs 12,314.07 crore on August 17, 2020, while highest net selling was recorded at Rs 2,357.9 crore on August 3, 2020.
