ICICI Securities Report
India’s weekly average daily fliers came in at 38,000 / 60,000 / 68,000 / 66,000 / 65,000 / 68,000 / 66,000 / 65,000 in first/second/third /fourth/fifth/sixth /seventh/eighth week respectively post the resumption of domestic air travel from May 25, 2020 verses 391 average daily fliers in the months of May-June-July 2019.
The number of fliers per departure dipped to 83 in the week ending July 18, 2020 vs 87 in the week ending July 11, 2020. Average departures increased from 750 per day to 780 per day for the same period.
These are early trends and should improve going ahead at a rate that would depend upon the trajectory of Covid-19 impact. Since the resumption of domestic air travel, number of departures per day has averaged at 707, which is 25% of the average number of daily departures registered in May- June-July 2019.
