Nifty gave a positive return of 5.2% (positive 5.6% return in U.S. dollar term) during the month.
The biggest gainer in the index during the month was Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., with a month on month return of 47%, followed by Tata Motors Ltd. with a MoM return of 37%.
The biggest losers during the month were HDFC Standard Life Insurance Company Ltd. with negative MoM return of down 8.3%, followed by Bharti Airtel Ltd. with negative MoM return of down 7.6%.
20 stocks outperformed the index and the rest 30 underperformed. Most of the stocks in Metals and Mining and banking, financial services and insurance outperformed the Index.
Major stocks in the energy and IT Services sector underperformed the index.
Among the Indices, Media index outperformed with a return of 30% while IT index underperformed with a return of 0.3% during the month.
