ICICI Securities Report
We believe emergence of quick grocery delivery players will potentially benefit the large players and further drive consolidation and formalisation (in fast moving consumer goods / consumer staples).
High lead time to deliver groceries (by traditional players) has led to emergence of quick grocery delivery players who deliver in 10-30 minutes.
Delivering these orders within a very short time requires them to stock the inventory in close proximity. This does not allow these players to have the privilege of large warehouses (which traditional players have) with wide assortment of products.
High Herfindahl-Hirschman Index in FMCG in India encourages these quick grocery delivery players to stock up top brands only (due to logistics constraints).
Most of the large listed FMCG players are beneficiaries as they are market leaders.
