Global Market Performance: Due to uncertainties over the new variant of Covid-19 (Omicron), equities across countries fell month-on-month in November. Given there is wider distribution of the impact of new variant, volatility in the market has increased. We understand, Omicron in short term has the potential to suppress growth (in travel, entertainment, and hospitality) and exacerbate inflation (linked with global supply chain). But within vaccine circle there is a confidence that current vaccines will remain effective. Most diagnostics continue to function, allowing for containment screening.
India Performance: India equity market (Nifty50) was down 3.9% month-on-month in Nov-2021. Market sentiment was weak from Covid-19, muted listing of new IPO. Overall, Indian market is getting consolidated from the last two months. Due to the volatility, high beta indices was weak and rotation to defensive sector was visible in the month.
