Banking Sector Update - Schedule Commercial Banks’ Deposit Mobilisation At A Six-Year High: Systematix

As per the latest Reserve Bank of India release, Schedule Commercial Banks’ deposit mobilisation stood at a six-year high of 12.3% YoY to Rs 154.4 trillion in FY21.

The growth was largely driven by current accounts and savings account deposits which grew by 17.6% YoY and were nearly at a 14-quarter high.

As a result, CASA composition to total deposits was at a life-high of 44.1% against 42.2% YoY and 42.8% QoQ.

Dissecting the growth pattern further, we find that current account deposits grew at 21% YoY, while savings account deposits mobilisation increased by 16.7% YoY.
