India’s Retail inflation for August 2020 at 6.7% was unchanged from the previous month’s level, which had been revised downward.
At 9.1% in August 2020, food inflation was the lowest since November 2019. Inflation of pulses, cereals, meat, spices and milk recorded softened inflation.
Egg and alcoholic beverage inflation hardened.
At 5.8%, core inflation was the highest since November 2018. Inflation for transport and communication, personal care and footwear accelerated.
These include pulses, edible oils, spices and vegetables. Of the discretionary items, personal care and transport and communication registered high inflation.
